The Everyday Life of British Society in the 1930s from the Perspective of Agatha Christie

The thesis explores the everyday life of British society in the 1930s, which will be examined in two ways. One is the construction of everyday, ordinary life using academic and scientific literature. The second source of information is the image of British society during the period in question through the lens of detective fiction from the pen of British writer Agatha Christie. The thesis juxtaposes these two perspectives, compares them, and looks for similarities and differences. The text of the thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part aims to introduce the study and the nature of research of everyday life, to outline the nature of the 1930s for the British people of the time, and to introduce the life and work of the writer Agatha Christie. The introductory chapter attempts to briefly describe the theme of the research of everyday life. Through a broader lens, the thesis looks at the historical context of the period in question. It then examines the social phenomena that influenced and shaped the society-wide mood and atmosphere of the 1930s. The key chapter of the theoretical part of the thesis then looks at interpersonal relationships, the fulfilment of leisure time, working hours, personal hygiene and grooming, shopping, eating, housing, transport, travel, culture and fashion in...
Arnošt Hofbauer (1869 - 1944)

The theme of this thesis is based on my interest in art around 1900and follows my Bachelor thesis. In chronological sequenced chapters will show Arnošt Hofbauer's life story and describe his artistic development, among others it will also analyze foundation of S. V. U. Mánes, periodical Volné směry etc. In the end of the thesis I attached the catalogs of his work from public and private collections for a complete view of his work. The aim of this thesis is to present Hofbauer's creative work in the most integrated form and in cultural-historical context. I attempt to evaluate his position in the Czech art history.

The topic of the thesis is a life and work of an architect and builder, Matěj Blecha (1861-1919). The form of the thesis is the classic monograph. It will cover Blecha's biography, chronologically ordered analysis of his works and buildings, which his company built from other architect's projects and also an overview of the company activities after the owner's death. The thesis will contain buildings catalogue in a standard form and their visual documentation. Dystopia: "We" and "They" in the Czech and World Fiction of the 20th Century.

In this thesis I mainly analyzed the canonical dystopian works, like J. Zamjatin We and G. Orwell 1984, based on this observation I circumscribe the five criteria by which the dystopian fictional world works. In the following sections, I observed the role and place of these criteria in the 20th century Czech literature works.
